Bill Bryson in his book "Down Under" mentioned that when he looked up Australia in the New York Time index to see how much it had engaged attention in US in 1997.

He found in that year across a full range of of possible interest the New York Time ran 20 articles about Australian Affairs.

In the same period for purpose of comparison, it found space for 120 articles on Peru, 150 on Cambodia, 500 on Israel.

This just illustrated how much Australian news can be hard to find in your news papers.

It is even more difficult to find good Melbourne news.
